El día jueves 24 a las 18:30 en la librería Sophos, edificio Fontabella,  se estará presentando el libro "Las siete profecías mayas y el despertar de la consciencia".

El escritor costarricense Carlos Díaz Chavarría, mediante su nuevo libro de poesía La otra mitad de mi diferencia, hace una exaltación de las luchas femeninas, una crítica al sistema patriarcal, un homenaje a esas mujeres quienes han sido parte de su existencia, un cuestionamiento a los roles tradicionales de género impuestos por la sociedad patriarcal y un reconocimiento a aquellos hombres quienes de manera honesta y valiente se atreven a romper estereotipos para darse la libertad de expresar su sensibilidad.

Desde que tengo memoria siempre habían libros en la casa. Los oficios de mis papás y mis abuelos habían formado una buena biblioteca a la que yo tenía acceso pero que a corta edad no me interesé en examinar. En la casa de mi abuelita había una gran librera que me encantaba ver porque tenía (y hasta la fecha mantiene) una gran colección de novelas de la misma editorial, y sus lomos con la misma forma pero colores diferentes lucían muy bien en los estantes más altos.

I'm trying to raise money to buy 500 copies of my book, "Cual Guerra? Testimonios de Sobrevivientes Mayas", so I can distribute them for free to students in Guatemala. I'm posting my project on the Crowdrise fundraising platform to let as many people as possible know about the project and, of course, I'm hoping to raise the necessary funds.

Quienes escribimos con deadline celebramos muchas veces que alguna fecha significativa ande cerca de nuestro día de publicación, porque siempre será un buen escape a la hora de que nos llegase a faltar tema sobre el cual escribir. 

American photojournalist Jean-Marie Simon presented the third edition of her book “Guatemala: Eternal Spring, Eternal Tyranny” at Sophos bookstore in the upper class neighborhood of Guatemala City on March 28. The images in the book now comprise the only complete set of photographs of that period in Guatemalan history which lasted 36 years and was marked by human rights abuses against indigenous populations.
